The Big Draw

A big (belated) thank you to all the girls and boys, mums, dads, students and of course my old Art School class mates Karen and Nicki for coming along to The Big Draw at the DCA back in October.

Over the weekend we had a constant stream of creative hands, all helping to fill our huge sprawling canvas and our gallery wall of individual pieces. Everyone loved digging into the big buckets of Posca pens and adding their own mark to the weekend of drawing. The end result was a multi coloured medley of hand drawn masterpieces, all beautifully intermingled with each other and completely unique.

For me, the best part of the whole weekend was seeing the very smallest of kids grabbing a handful of pens, boldly run over to a canvas which was at least 10 times their size and start drawing without a moment's hesitation. They weren't put off by scale, the people around them or any preconceptions of if their drawing skills were "good enough". Absolutely brilliant and completely inspiring.

Thanks to the DCA for allowing me to use these snaps taken on the day. Take a peek at the DCA's flickr page for lots more photos from their workshops and other events.
