A Black and White Wonderland at 100% Design 8th Sep 2008

Welcome to my Black and White Wonderland. For 100% Design I present an ever-growing monochrome experience of floor to ceiling drawings; over-sized botanics and tangles of foliage with a smattering of beasties and butterflies lurking in the undergrowth. An eye-popping oasis of organic inspiration in gargantuan proportions. A continually developing installation, the artwork gradually creeps across the entire surface of the stand over the duration of the show.
My plans for a sculptural, origami-style display of foliage and blossoms has been replaced by an epic 4 day long, live installation! I will be transforming Stand D90 into a blank canvas, then over the duration of the show, painting a floor to ceiling mural of tangled flowers and beasties in my signature black and white palette. The foundations for this spectacle of blossoms and foliage have been prepared on panels of crisp white wallpaper, which will line the inside of my stand and provide the backdrop for my live art spectacle.
All too often the creative process is hidden away out of sight, with only the finished product ever being seen by the public. For me, the act of creating, the thought process, the prelim sketches and the designer's method of working is where the real intrigue lies. I'll be giving the 100% Design audience a sneak peak into how I create my artwork - on a mammoth scale! Armed with my black and white paint pots, 2B pencils and my trusty collection of brushes, I'll be showing you the real face of design - its not all about polished plasma screens and glossy sales catalogues!
Come along and see me at work. You'll have to excuse me as I'll probably have paint on my face...I'm not a tidy worker!
