Christmas Cards     2nd Dec 2008

Christmas Cards

December is finally here and Scotland is white with snow! For those of you who love Christmas as much as I do, the thought of sending a "Christmas e-mail" is an unthinkable act! So, to get everyone in the spirit of sending a nice, old fashioned Christmas card I have uploaded the template artwork for my Christmas Circle card to the Press Section of my website (I was going to try and add it here - but the technological challenge was immense!). This is a bit of a Christmas exclusive, as I never give away my artwork for free, but for the next week you will be able to download the high res image file and print it off on your printer at home, thus making some pretty nifty designer cards! Here's the simple guide to wowing your friends with your cards:

  1. Download the Christmas Press Pack
  2. Open the file ‘Johanna Basford Christmas Card' (there are 2 formats, so try both if you are having problems)
  3. Set your printer to print in landscape
  4. Load your printer up with as heavy weight paper as it can manage and hit print
  5. Cut around the black rectangle outline of the card.
  6. Fold in half
  7. Select a good pen (my pen of choice is a black 0.4 fineliner - it's also good for drawing sharks)
  8. Inscribe your card with a delightful festive message, making sure to write ‘Christmas' and not ‘Xmas' (the ASBO alternative)
  9. Pop your card into a square envelope or construct one yourself by folding up some A4
  10. Send to someone with love this Christmas and spread the festive cheer!

Those of you who enjoy an afternoon with a squeegee, should print the artwork in black and white, photocopy onto an A4 acetate, then expose onto a silk screen for some serious printing!

Enjoy!
