New Work and Goodbye Tony

Its been a busy few days in the studio over the weekend. More and more pen and ink drawings have been materialising on sheets of creamy white layout paper in preparation for target="_blank">Indigo in February. I'm about to start moving onto a new satellite collection of designs, moving away from the fine pen and ink line, but thought I'd give you a sneak peek at a few of the designs before I put this section of the folio to rest. Coming next, inky watercolour!

And finally, I was sitting drawing at my desk in the studio yesterday when I heard on the radio the sad news that Tony Hart had passed away. I'm a bit too young for Vision On and Take Hart, but Hartbeat was one of my favourite programmes when I was little and Tony's gentle enthusiasm regularly had me posting off blotchy paintings in the hope they might appear in the weekly gallery (are you humming the gallery theme tune right now?!) A steady flow of stamped address envelopes arrived back at our house in the late 80's, stuffed with Hartbeat fact sheets, and I even had a Morph pencil tin. What a lovely man and an inspiration for a generation of Creatives.
