Why does French Mayo taste so strange? 11th Feb 2009

Well its day 2 of Premiere Vision here is blustery Paris. My adventures to get here have been of epic proportions (a 2:30am start on Monday morning in -15 degrees from Dundee, snow, aeroplane sandwiches containing no less than 11 e-numbers and the inevitable lost suitcase at Terminal 5). Luckily, the lovely ladies at BA Aberdeen had let me take my folio on as hand luggage, so the missing case was only a minor problem and not the full on catastrophe it could have been.
Despite northern France being battered by storms, the black hole that is Charles de Gaulle airport reopened yesterday and the buyers finally made it into Paris. A busy old show, the studios around me are all the big players from the UK / USA - its interesting to see the type of work the commercial biggies are producing and the volume! Mountains and mountains of paper and cloth, all in next season's predicted trendy hues - these guys know their market! My monochrome collection is like a little black and white island in a sea of spring / summer pantones!
With 2 more full days of the show, then the shambles that is Friday (students ahoy and a mass exodus) I'm looking forward to getting back to the studio and working on some new commissions. In the pipeline is an installation at Canary Warf in London, The Tiger Baby Album artwork, some new work for BrewDog, an illustration job for the lovely peeps at YCN and Here Design and of course the big launch series for Heartbreak Publishing - busy busy!
Sorry, no photos as yet. I took a few sly pics of my stand (the photography police here are mega strict!) on my iphone - but true to form I can't get the images to email or bluetooth to my laptop. (Lyall - what am I doing wrong?!)
For now, I'm off to ponder why French mayo tastes so darn weird and why everyone in Paris smokes so much, did they not hear the rumour about lung cancer?
