10 years ago! I loved that cupcake jumper!

As we come to the end of a decade, we all get a little sentimental huh? What’s changed? What’s happened? What’s NOT happened?

As a slightly scattered brained 26 year old, I was prone to burning the midnight oil. Regularly working till 2am on commissions. I said ‘YES!’ to every opportunity and hustled my way through my 20’s. It was exhausting, but looking back, I’m glad I did that then, because there’s no way I could do it now…!

10 years on… We moved back to my hometown, got married, had a couple of kids, oh, and I made some colouring books! I STILL laugh remembering how much my friends mocked me for making a Colouring book for Adults!

The biggest shift (aside from the arrival of Evie and Mia!) is that in our house, we now focus on Self Care. We try hard to eat well, we prioritise sleep (now that we’re finally getting some again!), we exercise, we put the screens away. Self Care isn’t selfish, it’s essential maintenance.

Imagine you could only have 1 car for your entire life. No trade-ins! That car has to last 70 years. Would you put diesel in a petrol engine? Would you let the oil tank run dry? Would you leave the tyres to go bald? Hell no! You’d take care of that thing! It has to last you a lifetime!

Well that’s how I think about my body now. I’ve only got one, and it has to last a really long time! Taking care of yourself isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.

As we enter the new decade, what are you going to do to look after yourself? What Self Care steps are you taking?

Here’s 3 quick ideas:

1. Track your screen time. Use an app like Moment and be aware of how much time you are spending on your phone.

2. Go to bed and get some sleep. 8 hours is my sweet spot! And get an alarm clock. DON’T use your phone as an alarm!

3. Take up a new (analogue) hobby. I’m learning CALLIGRAPHY!

Let’s make this the best decade ever!
