London Paris Tokyo

Scottish designer, Johanna Basford, announces a third exhibition date for 2008. Each of the shows, held in 3 of the world’s design epicentres, will mark the launch of a major body of new work, acting as an international showcase for her debuting designs and products.

At 100% Design, held at Earls Court, during the London Design Festival in September, Johanna will be showing 2 new wallpapers designs, Punk Peacock and Delirium. Punk Peacock marks the designer’s first flutter with digital printing. The result is an ultra dramatic, black on white, super-wide wallpaper featuring a peacock amongst the blossoms in Johanna’s signature hand drawn style. Not for the fainthearted, this bold, 1.2 meter wide print packs an eye-watering visual punch.  Delirium is an indulgent experience in tactile printed pattern. A richly inked black on black print, with layers of delicate hand drawn motifs, swirling flourishes and studded with world-famous Swarovski Crystals.

Just 24 hours after the completion of 100%, she will be launching her debut Fashion Textiles collection at Indigo, part of Premiere Vision in Paris. Uniquely, the collection features prints exclusively in black and white, Johanna’s signature colour palette. Inspired by 1980’s computer games, tattoos, graff

iti and origami, and with a strong emphasis on hand drawn elements and dynamic composition, her punchy monochromatic prints are sure to raise a few eye brows in the twee-textiles department.

Finally, working with Scottish Development International’s “From Scotland with Love” initiative, Johanna will be exhibiting as part of the Scottish collective at 100% Tokyo in Jingu Gaien in October. She will be launching her first digitally printed fabric, a large scale black and white print of Punk Peacock onto heavy cotton and a new hand printed wallpaper, Delirium Nocturnal, featuring flocks of flamboyant peacocks amidst whimsical botanics, all delicately hand printed in gloss and pearl inks and embellished with Swarovski Crystals.
