Christmas Cards    2nd Dec 2008

Christmas Cards

December is finally here and Scotland is white with snow! For those of you who love Christmas as much as I do, the thought of sending a “Christmas e-mail” is an unthinkable act! So, to get everyone in the spirit of sending a nice, old fashioned Christmas card I have uploaded the template artwork for my Christmas Circle card to the Press Section of my website (I was going to try and add it here – but the technological challenge was immense!). This is a bit of a Christmas exclusive, as I never give away my artwork for free, but for the next week you will be able to download the high res image file and print it off on your printer at home, thus making some pretty nifty designer cards! Here’s the simple guide to wowing your friends with your cards:...read more.

Christmas Shop goes live!    24th Nov 2008

Christmas Shop goes live!

The first sprinklings of snow have landed up here in Aberdeenshire, so Christmas is just around the corner. The high street is full of generic junk, so why not earn extra gold stars by giving an exclusive designer gift this Christmas?! I have a very limited collection of framed prints, ceramic gift sets, lampshades and a chess set which I will be offering at studio prices over the next couple of weeks. To make the deal even sweeter, I’m throwing in free postage to all UK mainland addresses… unfortunately Rudolph is resting for the big night, so we’ll be sending out your treasures with ParcelForce. To purchase any of the items in the Christmas Shop, drop me a line at the studio with your details. Merry Christmas! ...read more.

4Talent Awards    31st Oct 2008

4Talent Awards

I’m super-chuffed to announce I have won a 4Talent Award, Channel 4’s annual hunt for new UK creative talent. From over 700 applicants, the judges picked out 20 category winners. Along with those bright sparks that do amazing things with cameras and film, I’ll be picking up the Wildcard Award, which 4Talent delightfully describe as a “creative catch-all” encompassing fields such as illustration, fashion design and fine art and was judged by James Estill, Senior Producer at 4Talent and Jonnie Turpie, founder and Digital Media Director at Maverick TV. ...read more.

Jannica Honey / Concrete Wardrobe    13th Oct 2008

Jannica Honey / Concrete Wardrobe

I had a very early morning last week Friday (its so depressing to be getting up in the dark again!) and hopped on a train to Edinburgh and made my way along a very blustery Broughton Street to one of my favorite little shops which stocks my work, Concrete Wardrobe. Run by 2 fellow Scottish Designers, James Donald and Fiona McIntosh, Concrete Wardrobe is a treasure trove of hand crafted delights from fashion to homewares and art prints. It also happens to be decked out in some rather lovely Peking Wallpaper by yours truly. So why the jaunt to the capitol? Well, I was meeting the fantastic photographer Jannica Honey for an early morning photo shoot. Fuelled by a combination of Starbucks and funny stories about wedding photos, she snapped away and got some lovely pics of me and my work – not bad considering I got up at 5:45am and was still getting over the last of the Chicken Pox! The photos will be appearing in a forthcoming magazine article along with a rather special announcement… Intrigued?! Check back soon for the big reveal!...read more.

Blossoming Business Cards!    2nd Oct 2008

Blossoming Business Cards!

Possibly one of the coolest little business cards I have ever seen! This restaurant have cards which open up like a book of matches to reveal little strips of paper loaded up with flower seeds. There’s instructions printed on the top flap of the card explaining how to pop them into compost and give them a good water….then low and behold an impromptu flower garden should blossom after a few weeks. Perhaps a sneaky Guerilla Gardening tactic, or just a really lovely way to pass on your details and make the world a little bit prettier. Petal-tastic!...read more.

Black and White Musa Beer    1st Oct 2008

Black and White Musa Beer

Whilst having a wee tidy-up of the desktop on my battered (but much loved) MacBook, I came across this image of the black and white beer labels I did for the Musa Exhibition up in Aberdeen last month. Cool bottles of my favourite beer, BrewDog's Punk IPA were wrapped up in these nifty black and white labels. Beats a nasty Corona bottle any day... ;)...read more.

Insectiana in Sweden    11th Sep 2008

Insectiana in Sweden

Back in Spring, I received an email from a client who runs a design agency in Sweden who was in the midst of refurbishing a lovely old Hotel and Conference Centre near Stockholm. I spent several days in the studio printing up 3 meter panels of Insectiana in gloss black on white which were then rolled up and popped in the post to Sweden. Last week, I had a surprise email from my client with this beautiful image attached. The project is now complete, you can see full details of their beautiful work on their website (only in Swedish just now, but an English version is in the pipeline)....read more.
