Blast and Bless

Creative Review and Tate have teamed up to create a Tumblr inspired by Blast, a publication by Wyndham Lewis promoting Vorticism, an avant-garde art movement and the theme of the current Tate exhibition, The Vorticists: Manifesto for a Modern World.

The Tumblr is open for entries and you can post your own interpretation of the Blast and Bless theme.

Here’s what they say on submitting your work:

We are inviting submissions on the themes of ‘Blast’ and ‘Bless’, terms at the core of the Vorticist manifesto published in Blast 1. If it helps, think of it as a cultural, early 20th century Hot or Not. We’re inviting you to take two subjects, one you feel deserves to be blasted and one blessed, and to create work around these. This could be as simple as an illustrator drawing a picture of two figures, one a hero and one a villain, or a far broader interpretation. And we’re open to all formats. Graphics, photography, film, animation, digital art.

I’ve already uploaded in my inky hot or not, take a peek here to see the others.

PS: The winner of the Inky Lucky Dip earlier this week was @bluesdesigner – thanks to all of your who entered! We’ll maybe have to do this again sometime!
