#fringecover

I’m super delighted to announce that WE have been commissioned by the world famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe to design the cover of their 2010 Programme! It’s a project called #fringecover and yes, seriously, you are in on this gig too!

This isn’t just any old commission; this is the next evolution of TwitterPicture!

As the world’s largest arts festival, The Fringe is built on the principle that anyone with an idea and a vision can bring their show to Edinburgh. It’s all about breaking down barriers, audience participation and open access. With that in mind, we’d like to give you the opportunity to delve deep into your imaginations and tell us ‘What is the most unusual thing you’d like to see at the Fringe?”

Be it a tap dancing Himalayan goat, a badger rocket or a stuntman in pyjamas jumping through fire on a space hopper, conjure up your weird and wonderful suggestions and either Tweet them with the all important #fringecover hashtag or email them direct to the studio.

I’ll then be putting pen to paper for 2 days and translating all your crazy ideas into little inky illustrations.

From 10am to 10pm GMT on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th March (this week!) I’ll be drawing as many of your suggestions as possible and the very best ones will be chosen to emblaze the front covers of this year’s programme. Your idea could adorn the 400,000 festival programmes and become part of Edinburgh Fringe History!

One again we’ll be streaming the drawing process Live over the web, so you can log on and watch the #fringecover TwitterPicture evolve here.

This time round, you can submit as many sug

gestions as you like (although don’t send the same thing twice as it gets a little boring, and rude suggestions will just be ignored, so don’t even bother). The suggestion box is open NOW and will be taking early bird ideas straight away. Just remember to include the #fringecover hashtag and get all your friends in on the action.

I’ve teamed up with the awesome folk at Whitespace (yes, winners of Scottish Design Consultancy of the Year no less) and together we’ll be tackling this most epic inky adventure.

Be part of the story with us.

Kick start your imaginations and get those ideas submitted, I’m off to order some more pens, I think this one might get a little out of control…!
