Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls;

I’VE BEEN COMMISSIONED BY STARBUCKS!

I can finally reveal that for the last few months I’ve been working on a top secret project with their design team in London – not quite the Christmas cup (yet) but something very, very cool!

Hurrah!

Many moons ago I set-out to land a commission from the brand at the top of my dream client list.

It involved inky paper cups in the post, illustrated letters to their HQ, coffee with their UK Managing Director, emails with their Creative Director in Seattle, a whole lot of tweeting, a little Vimeoing and a smattering of cheeky optimism – but I got there!

Initially I had my sights set on the infamous Christmas Cup, but an opportunity developed which I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on!

*Grins like a Cheshire Cat!*

I was commissioned to create artwork for the redesign of the Vigo Street store, the first of 70 locations to be refurbished in the run-up to the Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and which Starbucks have now branded ‘the jewel in its London portfolio’.

As well as the interior applications at Vigo Street, you may just spot a little inky magic in some other Starbucks places soon too…

The grand unveiling is this evening, so expect lots of excited tweets, photos and a very happy blog typed from the Sleeper Train back to Scotland tonight!

For now, a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who tweeted, commented and gave Facebook thumbs-up to my Starbucks Commission Mission.

To all of you who emailed and wrote letters to Starbucks HQ, who presented print-outs of my blog to slightly bemused Baristas and who left customised Christmas Cups on tables, you are awesome!

I honestly don’t believe this could have happened without your inky allegiance.

*High fives the internet!*

Here’s to cheeky persistence!
