Having spent 6 years perched on the same £10 Ikea folding chair, I decided it was time to treat myself to something a little more comfortable (and twirly). Standard desk chairs all look like they belong in call centers or in the dentist’s reception, so I opted for something a touch more inky.

I printed my Punk Peacock design onto some heavy white cotton, bought a standard black Ikea desk chair and headed off to see my local upholsterers.

They worked their magic and a week later, I wheeled this monochrome little beauty into the studio. It’s comfy, it’s spiny and thanks to the joys of laminate flooring, my pen collection, printer and scanner are only a swoosh away – bliss!
