Smart Art : TwitterPicture
I’m SUPER excited to finally announce that the next evolution of TwitterPicture will go live on Wednesday the 4th & Thursday 5th of May and that this time, I’ll be drawing your tweets not onto paper, but onto a smart car!
What’s TwitterPicture? Click here for the background story
Yip, smart, the makers of those awesome little electric cars have commissioned me to create a very special TwitterPicture next month as part of the smart urban stage event at London’s Southbank.
The question is simple: “What will the future look like?”
Robots, Hoverboards, CyberDogs or Space Shuttles, whatever your vision of the future, tweet us on the day and the best suggestions will be selected and hand drawn in inky detail onto a crisp new smart car. (If you follow me on Twitter you’ll now know the reason for last night’s mega pen-buying spree!)
We’ll be filming the 2 day draw-a-thon (8am – 8pm each day) and streaming it live via the smart facebook page, so you might even spot your suggestion as it’s drawn onto the car! Even better, pop down to the Southbank if you are in London town and visit the urban stage event. The finished car will be on display there until 16th May.
I LOVE these interactive illustrations! It’s so cool to see all your amazing (and usually pretty bizarre) suggestion tweets and to work for what is fundamentally a crowd-sourced Creative Director. I have to admit that I’m always a bit scared ahead of one of these live drawing events, but the buzz and energy of working out with the studio (where everyone can see you make mistakes!) and without any predetermined plan is pretty darn cool.
You can follow the build-up to this project by following me on Twitter @johannabasford as well as @smartfortwoUK and #smartpic
I’ll be posting more details nearer the event with instructions on how to get involved, but for now, get your futuristic thinking caps on and have those suggestions at the ready!
