Starbucks Christmas Cup 2011

You may remember back in September I posted some pictures of my hand drawn Starbucks cups and mentioned my ambition to design the infamous Red Christmas Cup? Click here for the blog. Well now the festivities are over it’s time to kick start my Campaign for the Christmas Cup 2011!

In order to

make friends with those nice people at Starbucks HQ and further my campaign, I sent Darcy Wilson-Rymer, their UK MD, a little package in the post…

Parcel in the Post

This brown paper parcel opens up to reveal a very special hand penned Christmas Cup and a little letter to Mr Starbucks UK himself. Normal letters can be a bit boring, so I grabbed a couple of fine liners to help illustrate my point. Click here for a bigger image of the letter.

Now with any luck, this will capture the imagination of

t=”_blank”>starbucksukmd and he might just want to say hello and see some more of my hand drawn, inky illustrations. In which case I would of course hop on the first train to London with my portfolio and a vanilla latte… He might even want to forward a few links to his colleagues at Starbucks, maybe Daniele Monti their Creative Director over in Seattle?

I’ve always thought the best way to show people my work isn’t with a PDF or a Jpeg, hand drawn work just seems to fall flat in these formats. Something a little more charming and unique is required.

So what do you all think? Will I get the chance to create an inky illustrated design for the Christmas Cup 2011?

If you’d like to be sipping your next Gingerbread latte from an intrinsically charming, inky Red Christmas Cup why not drop Darcy a tweet and tell him? #ChristmasCup2011
